Avatar: The Last Airbender
A while back, a friend of ours recommended that we watch the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. So we downloaded the first season to check it out. And after the first few episodes, we were hooked. Because…you guys…it’s really good. Not just good for a cartoon, but really good.
We finished the series tonight, a four-part finale that actually made me cry. Twice. Now, I’m a weeper, but we’re still talking about a cartoon. The storytelling for this series is excellent, which is crucial for me. If your storytelling is compelling and you can make me care about your characters, I don’t care what medium we’re talking about, I’m yours.
And I decided something. I won’t be going to see M. Night Shymalan’s live-action version of this. I’ll only be deeply disappointed. There’s no way he can possibly do it justice.
So if you’re interested in a funny, touching, compelling adventure story, check out Avatar: The Last Airbender. If nothing else, you’ll be able to answer this question: Why is your forehead all red?
