I met a little old man who informed me that he had just turned 90 and asked me for a hug. Naturally, I obliged him and wished him a happy birthday. I think I may have made his day.
My weekend to-do list: clean house, do laundry, gardening, pick up dry cleaning, go to album release party, clean house, Super Bowl party :)

kenyatta:
Every brewing method has its own set of procedures, but the quality of your cup has a lot to do with more general considerations. The variables that affect how coffee is extracted are so numerous that there isn’t one sure answer for how to brew it. The best way to make great coffee is to experiment with some of the variables yourself. In the process, you will explore both your own palate...

Dog's Death, John Updike
poetry365:
She must have been kicked unseen or brushed by a car. Too young to know much, she was beginning to learn To use the newspapers spread on the kitchen floor And to win, wetting there, the words, “Good dog! Good dog!”
We thought her shy malaise was a shot reaction. The autopsy disclosed a rupture in her liver. As we teased her with play, blood was filling her skin And her heart...

Man, this makes me angry. Also, this: “Even if Huck Finn didn’t contain the N-word and demeaning stereotypes, it would remain a tough sell to students accustomed to fast-paced everything. The novel meanders along slower than the Mississippi River.” Um,...

I’ve dyed my hair maybe 4 times in the past year. I never really did before. I think maybe a total of 3 times in my life before this past year. I never believed in it. I figure if I’m not going grey, then why ruin my natural hair. But then I spent so much time in the sun that my hair got insanely light in color. Not too light, but too light for my liking. So I darken it every now and then.
